The Crimson Quest: A LitRPG Adventure Page 14
“What is NightFall Magic?”
“There are many forms of magic here. NightFall Magic is basically controlled by your thoughts. The more you level it, the more it reacts to your thoughts. You just need to energize your thoughts with emotions for this to work.
NightFall Magic? It sounded really interesting to me. We exited the forest and entered a flat area covered with sand. I looked into the distance . "Wow! It's an ocean. Do you know the name?
“Alberton Sea,” Cosmo replied.
It was a strange name. But I didn't think much about it as I continued to follow Cosmo. We walked towards the water. The waves hit the shore when I noticed the bed of the sun. "How far is the bandit camp?"
“We just have to follow the coast to the left for a while,” he replied. “I don't know exactly how far. But, it is dark. So, let's camp here and review our plan of attack. Then, at the first hour, we will leave.
I looked at the ocean. The sun was just above the water. It was much more beautiful than a sunset in the real world. Everything was so clear in the game world. Vivid shades of orange covered the water as she danced between the two. I looked at the ground and hit the sand under me. "Fair enough. I'm actually quite tired.
“Help me break these limbs,” Cosmo said, dragging a bunch of bare tree branches behind him.
I grabbed a tree branch and snapped it in half. Then I grabbed another one and did the same. Within minutes we had a bunch of tree branches stacked on top of each other. "Look at this," Cosmo said with a smirk.
Cosmo took out a torch and set the branches of the tree on fire. The fire grew bigger as the heat grew around us. It was not cold, but we needed a stable light source. “It's a perfect fire,” Cosmo said.
“I kinda like camping on the beach,” Johnny mumbled.
I looked around and didn't see Sonny. The peasants sat down on the beach. It was weird, but they never said much. It seemed that they liked to stay together and only talk to each other. The truth was, I didn't care as long as they were fighting the bandits. My eyes continued to scan the area for S onny. "Where has Sonny gone?"
"He's trying to clean his robe," Johnny replied pointing to the ocean.
I looked and saw Sonny splashing his robe. After that, he came back to us. "I knew it. It just won't come out, no matter how much water I put on it. It's a stain. Didn't I tell you?
"Oh shut up," her animal yelled from inside its cage. "You me go sick. All you care about is your stupid dress. How about opening up my cage and letting me enjoy the ocean too? Have you ever thought about this? Did you even think I might want to take a sip of salt water? Or are you too busy making sure your bathrobe is as usual? "
"You always do that," Sonny replied with his finger in the air. “You always make me look like the bad guy. I'll let you out. But that is not possible. And does anyone know why it is not possible to let him out?
" Because you like to treat him like a prisoner?" Johnny asked.
"No," Sonny yelled. “Because he will run away. He is his own worst enemy. He's living a good life. Wouldn't you all agree?
None of us said anything. A beautiful life? His life sucked. If I were her pet, I would go ahead and end my life. There would no longer be any reason to exist in the world.
Sonny stamped his foot like he was waiting for one of us to agree with him. Then he looked irritated. "So nobody will say anything?"
“Of course not . They all know I deserve better than that, ”the creature replied.
"There you go. Turn everyone against me. Isn't that what you've always wanted? Admit it for once, right?
The creature let out an unpleasant hiss. "I wish you would go ahead and die," he cried.
"How dare you talk to me that way?" Have I not provided you with food, shelter and an abundance of love over the years? "
The creature didn't respond, it just continued to hiss. I couldn't see his face from my perspective, but he looked like a real vicious little beast. “Alright,” I shouted. "Let's talk about something else. What about the peasants? Are you ready for the battle of tomo rrow?"
The peasants looked at the ground. A few of them blinked. Then whoever killed Ronald threw both hands up. "Let's pipe something!"
"That's the idea. Yes, we'll kill something tomorrow," I replied.
Cosmo began to walk around the peasants. His hand passed under his chin. “Let’s see you swing that sword,” he said to a peasant.
The peasant looked frightened. He straightened the straw hat he was wearing. Then he held the sword in the air. He made a quick swing to the left, then to the right. “Not bad,” Cosmo replied.
Not bad? He only swung a sword. Sure, that was a good sign, but that didn't mean he knew how to fight. "Shouldn't we be practicing sword fighting?" Or, training with them?
“They are peasants. They are not as good as they are programmed to be. "
"Well, how good is that?"
“It just depends. Whoever killed Ronald looks pretty good. Only time will tell for others.
“But is there nothing else we can do to train them?”
"Not really. Th ey are what they are. Trust me."
“Well, let's see what they're capable of. I can set them a goal to train on. Just give me a few minutes.
Cosmo looked irritated. “Nothing will change what will happen tomorrow. Do you understand and? Everything will go as planned. I can promise you that. "
How could he promise me that? What if these peasants were weak children? I always wanted to test their skills. "I'll set them a goal."
“Stop,” Cosmo yelled. “You're only going to waste their energy. What they need is rest. What we all need is rest. Understand?"
My head fell to the ground. Maybe he was right. Maybe rest was what they needed right now. "Fine. Let's just get some sleep then.
We sat on the floor. The waves were getting stronger and stronger as the bright moon reflected off them. In the distance, there was a strange ringing bird. He kept tweeting the same model over and over again. "I hate this bird," Johnny said, punching a little san d. “He's so boring.
The bird continued to howl. Dude, that bird was really boring. It was almost like he was choking on an acorn or something. I leaned back and looked at the stars above us. How could that not be real? There was no difference between that and real life. I didn't care if my body lay in a capsule in the real world. It didn't matter. It was real. It was just as real as the real world. It seemed strange, but I felt more alive here. The real world was boring and harsh. It was tough too, but at least it was fun. There, I had no friends, no money, no future. But here I could see my future. I could be someone for once.
As my thoughts continued, I noticed Sonny removing her dress not far from me. “I can't believe we're sleeping in the sand like a couple of wild animals. If I had known this, I don't think I would have come. I really do not know.
"The sand will stick to your back, won't it?"
"I'm not going to get my dress dirty just for a night's sleep," Sonny replied .
Dude, Sonny's pet was right. This guy had an unhealthy obsessive worry about her stupid dress. What would be the problem if he had dirty his dress? Sonny fell on his back without a shirt. I had to admit he didn't really have an award-winning bo dy .
The peasants have all put themselves in a sleeping position. Cosmo did the same. But, Johnny was still up. "What do you think?"
"About what?" Johnny asked.
"This. Our new life. Do you like it?"
A serious look appeared on Johnny's face. "I guess," he replied. "I'm a little bored sitting on the couch."
“We can have a sofa. It does not matter.
"Can we put one in this elf's house?" You know, the elf who died.
"Sure. We can go back. I really like his house. We just need to get those paintings off. If you want a sofa, I'll buy us one.
"Yeah, that would make things better," Johnny replied with a smile. “I just need to take a day off. You know? Like that , it's so exciting, but it's also a little s
tressful.
"But aren't you having fun?"
"I am. But, we're about to plunder a village of bandits. I just have a bad feeling about it for some reason. I mean, they're kind of like real bandits. We're just that. two guys in college , right?
"Not anymore," I replied in a stern voice. "We are much more than that now."
Johnny looked confused. Then he yawned. “I guess you're right. This game could change our whole life. "
"Stay with me. I'll make sure we're both successful here, ”I replied, nodding. “You better get some sleep. Johnorrow is going to be crazy.
Johnny went to his side and tried to fall asleep. I looked around and realized that everyone was already asleep. Next to Sonny, I saw the wooden box that contained his pet. In a strange way, I felt a little bad for the little creature. Sonny certainly didn't seem to let him out much. I lay down on my back and closed my eyes. A warm, fuzzy feeling washed over me as the waves pounded the shore in the background. The neighboring bird continued to make its strange sounds as my world grew dark. Random shapes and objects filled my head. Several minutes passed as I fell into a deep sleep. Then I heard a noise. My eyes opened. what was that? Something was walking near me. The steps were heavy. I wanted to look up, but I didn't want to move. Moments passed before I heard whisperings exchanged. The whispers grew louder. “Just open my door. It really is that simple. There are four latches that connect on the side. "
I recognized the shrill voice. I rolled over onto my stomach and knelt down. Standing above the animal's cage was a peasant. He looked confused as he tried to open the door. "How does it open again?"
"It's the simplest thing in the world," the creature whispered .
"Should I ask your landlord to do this?"
No, ”the creature cried softly. "Do not do that. He doesn't need to know anything about it. It is a surprise. Yes, it's a surprise for him. You don't want to spoil a surprise, do you?
The peasant shook his head. “The surprises are good. But how can I do this again? "
The creature became irritated. “All you do is unlock it. Just look for the hook. Can't you do this simple task for me? "
The peasant scratched his head. "I think I should wake your landlord."
“You don't do that. You said I should be released. Did you forget this? Good, this is your chance now. What is it gonna be? Talking is not expensive. I need to see some action from you. "
"I would say no? asked the peasant with a firm nod. "Yes. You deserve to be free."
There was a click when the peasant opened the four hatches that locked the door. The little creature jumped out of the cage and shook its fur. He raised his two small arms in the air and stretched. Then he jumped in the air and did a three-sixty turn. In front of him, Sonny was snoring. The creature rubbed its hands together. "I've been waiting for this for a long time," he muttered under his breath.
Suddenly , the creature jumped in Sonny's face. "Die!" he yelled, biting into it. “I want you dead. And I want you to be dead now.
Weird sounds were coming from Sonny as I couldn't believe what was going on. I guess the creature's desire for revenge was too strong to suppress. “Stop,” I shouted. "Sonny is your landlord."
I ran towards the creature and tried to grab it. But, he quickly turned to me and hissed while displaying his razor sharp teeth. Man, that was an unhappy animal. I figured I'd just let these two sort out the disagreement at their own pace. So I took a step back because I didn't know what to do. “Cosmo,” I shouted. "Wake up. He's going to kill Sonny.
Johnny came out of his sleeping position. “Get well Sonny. I just wanted to tell you that before you died.
Cosmo and a few other peasants jumped to their feet. "What is happening?" Cosmo asked.
“Sonny's pet is killing him. We're going to lose our healer.
In a way, this was the ultimate test to see how good the healer Sonny was. If he was good, couldn't he just heal himself? I couldn't wait to find out as I continued to watch the fight unfold. "I loved you," Sonny yelled with broken words. "How could you betray me like that?"
Sonny tried to remove his pet, but it was too late. “You never made me happy,” her pet yelled.
Then there was a sound that I will never forget. The scariest scream I have ever heard in my life. Sonny's body began to seize. Then he shriveled up. Sonny was dead. The creature turned towards us with a mad look. He laughed uncontrollably. The laughter dragged on before he finally said something. "I'm free. Can you believe it?"
The creature started to run away, but then it turned around. He slowly walked over to Sonny's dress on the floor. He lifted one leg and began to pee on the dress. “Fuck your bathrobe,” he laughs. He turned to us and hissed. Dude, his teeth were still extra white. I couldn't believe it. The little creature swayed away as if he had no worries in the world.
My head slowly turned to Johnny. "I'm just glad he's free," Johnny said with a raised eyebrow.
“I can't believe Sonny is dead. I feel bad for him, ”I said.
Cosmo approached his booty. “I hate that Sonny is dead. But, you have to look on the bright side. At least I got a quarter of my gold back.
The peasants have gathered around us. They didn't speak. We all stayed just a while and collected our thoughts. After that, Cosmo pointed to his left. “We are already on our feet. We might as well start our adventure. "
Chapter nineteen
We started to move away from our campsite. I felt sorry for Sonny. He was a little boring, but I think he just wasn't safe. The more I got to know him, the more I realized this about him. As we were about to leave, I had a pop-up alert in front of me:
R equest friends
Sonny The Healer wants to add you as a friend. I accept? Yes No?
Is that so? I guess he was already a lost soul and wanted help. I accepted his request. After that I brought up a message alert. It was from Sonny:
"Can you believe it? My own animal betrayed me . After everything I've done for him. You can tell him that I won't forget that. If he wants me to bring him back, tell him it's over. I'm serious! it's over! Also, I shall perhaps need you to come find my soul. I know you probably want me to pan more quickly given my value the army.
I'm not scared or anything, I just thought I would send you a message. In fact, the main reason I messaged you was to check my dress. I took it off before I fell asleep. It should be on the ground. Can you fold it neatly and put it in your inventory? Don't let anything get into it because it gets stained easily. I would appreciate it because it is a very special dress. You can't find them anywhere anymore. Thank you. Could you message me again when you get my dress?
Son."
We started to follow the shore to the left. I walked faster and spoke loudly. "Sonny just sent me a message."
“It was quick,” Cosmo replied.
“Yeah. He basically said he wanted us to find his soul and tell his pet that he hates him forever. Oh, and he wants me to take his robe.
I almost forgot her dress. I turned and walked back to where he had left it. I leaned over it just to take a look. Yeah. I could see and smell the urine. Mean. I didn't want to do it , but I knew I should. If Sonny didn't want it back, maybe I could sell it? I picked it up and added it to my inventory. Great, I was now wearing a pee covered dress. What was so awesome about this dress? I opened my inventory to see what kind of stats it had:
Dyed ferret fur robe
Description: Dress in real ferret fur. Dyes the color of yellow. Provides warmth and a unique style.
Lunge: upper body
Level: 03 (beginner)
Weight: 2 lbs
Defense: 0
Denomination: 17 gold
Oh wow! Was it worth 17 gold coins? But why? It was a shitty dress made with dead ferrets. I actually felt bad for the ferrets which ended up being used for the dress. It just didn't feel right. If I was a ferret and killed for a bathrobe, I would have felt like I had been cheated on in life. Still, I couldn't believe the dress was wort
h that much. I ran quickly and caught up with Cosmo. "Sonny's dress is worth 17 gold!" Can you believe it? "
Cosmo kept walking and didn't look back. “Not ba d. Must be some kind of unique fashion niche. "
"Maybe. But, if Sonny doesn't come back and get it, I could sell it.
“It sounds like a plan,” Cosmo said after stopping.
"Are we almost in the village of the bandits?" Johnny asked.
"It's still about thirty minutes."
We continued to follow the coastline at sunrise. I was both excited and nervous. But we were about to fight bandits without a healer. Was it really a smart thing to do? "Are we not going to be slaughtered without a healer?"
